PPARG - peroxisome proliferator activated receptor gamma
Function
Nuclear receptor that binds peroxisome proliferators such as hypolipidemic drugs and fatty acids. Once activated by a ligand, the nuclear receptor binds to DNA specific PPAR response elements (PPRE) and modulates the transcription of its target genes, such as acyl-CoA oxidase. It therefore controls the peroxisomal beta-oxidation pathway of fatty acids. Key regulator of adipocyte differentiation and glucose homeostasis. May play a role in the regulation of circadian rhythm.

Causal Flows
are statistically significant links between putative causal events (somatic mutations, copy number variations, chromosomal translocations, etc.) and the activity levels of regulators and regulons. In the causal flow, a mutation
may causally activate or deactivate a downstream regulator
which then might up- down-regulates a regulon
that contains genes with similar expression profiles and binding sites.
